TWO junior rowers from Hartpury College near Gloucester helped Britain bring home a bronze medal in the women’s quadruple scull at the World Junior Championships in Hamburg.

Flo Pickles and Charlotte Hodgkins-Byrne were joined in the boat by Anna Thornton of Nottingham RC and Susannah Duncan of the Tideway Scullers.

GB’s juniors won three medals overall, out of the four finals they raced in.

The British quad moved strongly away from Romania in the second half of the race but they could not close the gap on the two leading crew. The Chinese team put in the strongest finish of all to overtake Germany and go on to win.

The GB crew did well to take the bronze medal in a time of 7:41.08.
