Dymock 213 all out

Fairford 233 all out

Fairford opted to bat first on a good looking wicket at the picturesque Dymock ground and, despite losing an early wicket as Chris Clayton nicked one to first slip, made good progress as Graham Clarke joined Lee Clark at the crease with the pair adding 97 at almost five an over. When Clarke and Clark both fell in quick succession for 40 and 49 respectively, the middle order once again fired with Derek Townsend and Will Bowers both scoring 35, Townsend's coming from only 17 balls before he top-edged a pull to the keeper.

Wickets fell regularly and were shared among the home bowlers, but Fairford managed to keep the scoreboard ticking to a defendable target of 233.

After a fine tea, Bowers and Adrian Newport bowled good opening spells and despite only taking one wicket between them kept things tight.

Richard Young maintained the pressure and once he had accounted for the usually free-scoring York Senior, Fairford sensed the game may be there for the taking.

Jon Card batted well for his 51 but the introduction of Craig Muir proved decisive as the occasional swing bowler picked up his first ever five-wicket haul thanks to some excellent catches. Colin Bullock bowled fast and straight to also pick up three late wickets as the Dymock run chase petered out in the last over, all out for 213.
